2006 OD Network Award Recipients

Don Cole, Global Work Award

Photo of Don ColeDr. Donald Cole, RODC (Registered OD Consultant) has organized 26 OD World Congresses and OD consulting teams outside the USA since 1983 to test the use of OD technology in world trouble spots. Since 1981, he has been active in working to build the field of OD into a profession. He is a charter member of the OD Network. He helped found The O.D. Journal in 1984. He founded the Ohio ODNetwork, the Midwest O.D. Network, and the O.D. Institute. He has written five books and numerous articles.

Chris Argyris, Lifetime Achievement Award

Photo of Chris ArgyrisChris Argyris is the James Conant Professor of Education and Organizational Behavior Emeritus at Harvard University. He has consulted to numerous private and governmental organizations. He has received awards including eleven honorary degrees and lifetime contributions awards from the Academy of Management, American Psychological Association, and American Society of Training Directors. His most recent books are Reasons and Rationalizations: The Limits to Organizational Knowledge (2004), Flawed Advice (2000), and On Organizational Learning (1999). A Director of Monitor Group, Chris has shaped the practice of organization development with his seminal work on learning, change and leadership.

Saul Eisen, Lifetime Achievement Award

Photo of Saul EisenSaul Eisen, Ph.D., is Coordinator of the Master’s Program in OD at Sonoma State University. His international consulting practice integrates strategic planning and organization development. He teaches courses in facilitation, consulting methods and skills, and human systems redesign. His work has been widely published in professional journals and books on organization development, and he is a frequent presenter at regional and national conferences. He holds an MBA from UCLA, and a Ph.D. in organizational behavior from Case Western Reserve University. He is a member of the STS Roundtable, the OD Network, and the Bay Area OD Network.

Carolyn J. Lukensmeyer & AmericaSpeaks, Sharing the Wealth Award

Photo of Carolyn LukensmeyerDr. Carolyn J. Lukensmeyer is the president and founder of AmericaSpeaks, a nonprofit organization working to reinvigorate democracy by engaging citizens in the public decision making that most affects their lives. Since 1995, AmericaSpeaks has led dozens of projects engaging thousands of people on such important issues as global poverty, health care, economic development, rebuilding New Orleans, and Social Security reform. Carolyn previously served as consultant to the White House Office of the Chief of Staff and as the Deputy Project Director of Management of the National Performance Review, Vice President Al Gore’s task force on reinventing government.

Geoff Bellman, Sharing the Wealth Award

Photo of Geoff BellmanGeoff Bellman has been an external consultant since 1977, following fourteen years of consulting inside three corporations. His most active years of consulting focused on renewing large, mature organizations. He is a founder of the Community Consulting Partnership, which offers free consultation to nonprofit organizations and free guidance to people learning how to consult. He has written five books about work, change, leadership, and life. Besides serving as guest faculty for a number of graduate OD programs, Geoff is a charter member of the Woodlands Group, which explores individual, organizational, and societal change.

San Antonio OD Connection, Outstanding Regional Network Award

From small beginnings eight years ago, the San Antonio OD Connection has grown to become a vital voice in the San Antonio area. Its organizing purposes are: to meet with OD practitioners and others interested in the field of OD; to learn from each other; to discover what the local professional OD talent pool holds; and to give something back to the profession by encouraging and modeling the values, knowledge, and philosophy of OD. SA OD Connection consistently recognizes the OD Network as their own connection by sending OD Network newsletters to its members, publicizing our conference, and linking to our website.

Marilyn Blair, Service to the OD Network Award

Photo of Marilyn BlairMarilyn E. Blair, Ph.D., has worked as an internal and external development consultant with large and small organizations, both for-profit and nonprofit. She has combined eight years of director-level management experience with artful organization development process skills and change technologies to develop and deliver a variety of management development programs including strategic thinking, project management, customer service, and diversity in the work place. Her extensive process experience qualifies her as an specialist in facilitation, negotiation, conflict management, and decision-making skills and models. A certified member of Associated Consultants International, Marilyn has served as Managing Editor of OD Network publications for eight years.

Brenda B. Jones, Service to the OD Network Award

Photo of Brenda JonesBrenda B. Jones, M.S., is Principal of Brenda B. Jones Associates. After more than 25 years in OD, her work focuses on organization strategy and change; executive coaching; leadership development; and building individual, group, and organization capabilities. She serves on the faculty of American University/NTL graduate OD program and the OSD program at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland. She is co-editor of The NTL Handbook of Organization Development and Change (2006). She serves on the board of the Lewin Center and is a past chair of the OD Network Board of Trustees. She is also a member of NTL Institute, IODA, and Academy of Management.

Interaction Institute for Social Change, Members' Choice Award

Logo for Interaction Institute for Social ChangeThe mission of the Interaction Institute for Social Change (IISC) is to ignite and sustain social transformation, catalyze collective action, and build collaborative skill to bring alive its vision of a just and sustainable world. It provides network-building, consulting, facilitation, and training services designed to transform communities and organizations and to build the capacity of leaders of social change. Clients include small and large nonprofit organizations, volunteer civic associations, coalitions, state and local agencies, and partnerships of corporations and community groups. IISC also works with community leaders who are creating new civic institutions and partnerships for peace in Ireland and Eastern Europe.
