Call for Nominations
OD Network Board of Trustees

The Organization Development Network seeks nominations for members of its Board of Trustees. We have two openings to be filled by election this year for 6-year terms, beginning January 1, 2009, and ending on December 31, 2014. We look forward to presenting a group of exceptional candidates for election. Please think about how you or someone you know could contribute to advancing the field of organization development and the OD Network and consider nominating such individuals.

Qualifications

Candidates should have the time, commitment, strategic leadership capabilities, and business acumen to contribute to the work of the Board and the OD Network in carrying out its mission and current strategic goals.  Candidates must be current members of the Organization Development Network.

Specifically, we are looking for people who:

  • Wish to contribute their time and talents to advancing the theory and practice of organization development and the initiatives of the OD Network.
  • Have the background and experience that have enabled them to acquire:
    • significant competencies in the field of OD
    • proven leadership abilities
    • a strategic mindset and orientation
    • a commitment to fiscal accountability and strong financial management, including budget oversight
    • prior Board experience
  • Will be able to attend board meetings two times a year for about 3 days each. The OD Network will pay expenses, if those are a barrier to participation.
  • Will be able to attend OD Network Conferences each year. This year’s Conference will be held in Austin, TX, on October 17-22, 2008.
  • Will be able to meet one or two times a month telephonically, and also do work via the internet.
  • Will be responsible for a variety of tasks and contributions between board meetings to help support board activities and the work of the executive director of the OD Network. This could amount to the equivalent of 1-2 days per month.

Placing a nomination

  • Contact the executive director, Peter Norlin, at 973.763.7337 x24 or via email to indicate your intention to nominate yourself or someone else.
  • Submit e-mail messages or a petition signed by at least 20 current OD Network members in support of the nominee’s qualifications and intention to run for a position on the board.
  • Prepare and submit a statement of no more than 200 words of the candidate’s qualifications and reasons for seeking election to the board. Also submit a recent electronic photograph of the candidate. Both the statement and photograph will be used in the ballot to be made available to OD Network members.
  • Send an electronic copy of the nomination letters/petition, candidate statement, and photograph no later than April 5, 2008, to Peter Norlin, executive director.

Only persons whose materials are fully complete by April 5, 2008, will have their names placed on the ballot for election to the board of trustees.

Election process

Voting will be conducted primarily electronically, with paper ballots mailed only to members who do not have electronic access. The voting period will start on May 1, 2008, and last until May 31, 2008.  OD Network members will vote for up to two candidates from among those running for election. At the end of the voting process, the two candidates with the most votes will be certified as winners and notified by the chair of the board of trustees. The results will be announced to the OD Network membership shortly thereafter.

More information

Please review the OD Network’s mission, vision, and values,   as well as the current strategic goals. Feel free to contact any or all of the current board of trustees to learn more about the role and expectations.
