Message from the Program Committee Co-Chairs

Ask an executive about the key to organizational success, and you’re likely to hear “innovation.” Lacking innovation, organizations fail to grow and thrive. Organization Development practitioners are familiar with these topics, and now it’s time for us to explore INNOVATION within our own field. We look forward to connecting with you at theOD Network 2013 Annual Conferencein San Jose, CA from October 5-8.

You’ll be in great company at the Conference, with opportunities to engage Bob Kegan, Ed Schein, Dave Sibbet, Vernā Myers and Susan Foley. In addition, your colleagues will present the freshest ideas for action on learning, social systems and change – just to mention a few topics. While you have a moment, review theschedule-at-a-glanceandregister todayfor the Conference at the lowest available rates.

We have engaged a worldwide community of Organization Development leaders who, together with us, have planned the pre-eminent global conference in Organization Development. New!OD Webinars

We are launching a new series of webinars that will bring innovators and thought leaders to you in 90-minute sessions covering concepts and ideas foundational to your practice.

We are pleased to announce our first webinar, "VISUALIZING PROCESS: Finding the Patterns That Connect," will feature David Sibbet, renowned systems thinker and graphic facilitator, as well as Lisa Kimball, futurist and former OD Network board member. Among other topics, David will explain how the Drexler-Sibbet Team Performance Model reveals behavior patterns based on systems theory.

This 90-minute interactive webinar is especially helpful for experienced OD practitioners as well as new practitioners and students. Key learning and takeaways from this session:

  • Short background on the Visual Leadership series for Wiley & Sons beginning to define the world of process visualization
  • Story of the shift from thinking about form and structure as what integrates organization to appreciating the process and purpose are more fundamental
  • Visual demonstration of how to visualize process in meetings, teams and org change
  • Introduction to the theory behind The Grove's work: The Theory of Process by Arthur M. Young
  • Exploring the implications for OD of truly understanding the nature of process

Mark your calendar now for Thursday, Sept. 12, 2:30 PM (Central Time), 90 minutes. Clickherefor information and to register.

Watch your email for future webinar topics and the diverse roster of presenters.

In the coming weeks, we'll be launching two programs for OD Network members: one to provide one-on-coaching, and one to provide one-on-one mentoring. New!Internals Community of Practice (ICoP)

Finally, your feedback has made it clear that internal OD practitioners have a special set of challenges that no other organization can meet. Through our publications and conferences, we continue to keep a focus on the needs of internals, and now we're very excited to create the ICoP. You'll hear more about this at theOD Network 2013 Annual Conference, and we're planning to formally create the ICoP in late October.

Many thanks to Argerie Vasilikes and Ray Leuchtefeld who will be convening the ICoP for us this year as well as to Julie Smenzuik-Obrien and Barrett Horne for their contributions to the design.
