OD Network's Internal Consultants' Community of Practice (ICoP)

We're very excited that the Network's first Community of Practice has launched.More than 50 OD Network members expressed an interest in joining this first ICoP, but creators and conveners Argerie Vasilakes and Ray Leuchtefeld have kept this initial group down to 12-15 members. So, while this initial ICoP is now closed, the OD Network will look into creating another CoP for internals, and possibly for the health care sectors and others as well, once we have some experience with the model and format.

The ICoP is designed to support the learning and practice development of internal OD consultants by sharing recipes for success and the hard won lessons learned from challenge. Each month, one or two members of the ICoP prepare a case that has happened in their work lives to share with other members and to receive input and outside perspective.

We look forward to offering similar Communities of Practice in the future. Please contactmembership@odnetwork.orgif you have an idea for one such Community of Practice or would like to get involved.

Coaching and Mentoring Program

The OD Network is excited to announce the launch ofthe new, peer-to-peer Coaching and Mentoring programs. Thanks in large part to the work of our design team made up of Chris Brabon, Hester Darcy, Karen Nash, Page Ann Smith, and led by Denny Gallagher; our new coaching and mentoring programs are open for business.

The process for getting involved in coaching and mentoring is simple. The most important step is to update your personal profile page to identify what you are interested in engaging in (i.e., offering or receiving coaching/mentoring).This way, members can find you in the member database and reach out to you if there is a mutual fit. You can also proactively search the member database to identify OD Network members that match your specifications to contact. All that is left to do is to initiate a contracting conversation and design a program that makes the most sense for both of you.

We'll be monitoring the program for the first several months and welcome anyfeedbackto enhance this benefit. Visit theCoachingandMentoringWeb pages for more information.

OD Network Regional News
Next Regional Leaders Virtual Gathering September 12th

The Regional Leaders Virtual Gathering is scheduled for noon ET on September 12th. We will be discussing two topics that regional leaders raised earlier this year:
  • Marketing to members amid a changing OD profession. What language do we use to attract other professions to OD? Are younger practitioners using different terminology like change leadership that we need to incorporate into our marketing and communications? How does OD differentiate itself from training and HR? How do we draw business leaders to our membership?
  • Pooling regional resources. How might we share blog topics, co-brand newsletter content, exchange ideas for programming?

In our "pooling regional resources" conversation, bring your success stories - we want to hear when your regional received help from another and how we might replicate that experience across regionals. Also, bring your ideas for pooling resources that would make the biggest impact on your regional.

We will be usingGo To Webinarfor this virtual gathering so we can collect your ideas online, take a few polls, and record the discussion so you can go back to it later. For those not able to be on the internet, we will still provide a teleconference number so you can participate. Logistics information will be sent to regional leaders by email in early September. Please make sure your contact information is up to date in yourregional profile.
