Mind
Traps: Inhibitors to Leadership Growth
With
Gil Herman, Consultant and President Managing Horizons; and Kathy Orms,
Director of Organizational Development., Loyola University Medical Center
How do we--as individuals,
OD practitioners, and leaders--behave in ways that inhibit our growth and
that of others? As we learn more about emotional intelligence, it's
important to recognize our own addictive patterns of behavior that (unconsciously)
compromise our integrity and ability to be fully effective in our work
and personal life.
Gil Herman will present 12
different "Mind Traps" identified by James Newton of Newton Learning Corporation,
as addictive patterns that inhibit effectiveness; along with examples
of how he's put them to work. He will also share additional wisdom
to which he's been exposed in his training to become a TEC Chair.
TEC (The Executive Committee) is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness
and enhancing the lives of CEOs. As a TEC Chair, Gil facilitates
monthly meetings of CEOs, presidents and business owners and coaches members
one-on-one between sessions.
Kathy Orms will share how
she's begun using some of this learning along with HeartMath (tm) as part
of a leadership development process at Loyola University Medical Center.
HeartMath (tm) combines leading edge science and practical information
into techniques that help people balance thoughts and emotions, handle
stress and change, and become more effective.
We will have the chance to
both experience and work with these tools. You will come away with
a better understanding of your own psyche and some tools to help increase
your effectiveness and that of your clients. |
