What Can the Game of Monopoly Teach Us About Negotiation?
OD
professionals find themselves in situations involving negotiations every
day. A negotiation can be defined as a back and forth communication
designed to reach an agreement when you have shared or differing interests
than others. As a result, how we communicate - the words we use,
the words we hear, the symbols and gestures we display - plays a critical
role in the outcome of a negotiation. Parker Brother's classic game
of real estate and chance, Monopoly, will be used to simulate a negotiation
among group participants and discuss topics such as: sharing of interests,
the use of power, and listening to understand. Roger Fisher & William
Ury's book entitled, Getting to Yes, will also be referenced throughout
the presentation.
Rob
Engelman, a marketing professional who has worked in major Chicago
corporations has developed this approach and will take us through it.

What Does it Mean to Develop Human Potential?
With
Bernie Liebowitz
Organizations
make judgments on this every day-yet how do we know when someone has shown
or reached his or her "developmental" potential? Even more-- how can we
train managers to become the kind of "developmental" coaches we need? This
workshop will focus on an interactive coaching method that can be used
by managers for direct reports and others. Come for an
interactive,
role playing session in which you will take on managerial roles, to experience
and learn coaching tools you can put to work right away.
Bernie
Liebowitz works with organizations to help revitalize their workforce and
their design. |
