Master of Ceremonies - Julie Truck, Deputy Business Editor, CHICAGO TRIBUNE

Keynote Speaker - Dr. Daniel R. Denison

Dr. Daniel R. Denison will be the featured keynote speaker for the 2003 ODN/C Impact Awards. Dr. Denison holds a Masters in Sociology and a PhD in Organizational Psychology. He is currently working as Professor of Organization Development at the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland. Prior to his time at IMD, he was Visiting Associate Professor of Organization Behavior and Human Resource Management at the School of Business Administration at the University of Michigan.

The central focus of Dr. Denison’s work has been researching the connection between corporate culture and organizational effectiveness. He is the creator of the Denison Culture Study which links organizational culture to such bottom line performance measures as return on investment, sales growth and innovation. With over 15 years of experience, a client list of over 100 Fortune 500 and international companies, and tracking data from hundreds of publicly traded companies,   Dr. Denison brings the strength of “normal science” to the argument for OD.

Purpose of the Award

You’re doing some great OD work... It's time to let Chicago know about it!

The objectives of the ODNC Impact Award are:

  1. To increase the number of organizations in Chicago with active Organization Development programs,
  2. Increase the visibility and credibility of OD and the Organization Development Network of Chicago (ODNC) in the Chicago business and not for profit community, and
  3. Improve the quality of OD programs in Chicago by creating a forum for sharing best-in-class approaches.
We're targeting these goals by soliciting, identifying, recognizing, honoring, and sharing compelling stories of OD successes.  In particular, we seek vivid, concrete stories of OD programs that illustrate the positive impact of Organization Development at its best and that tie human values with the business/financial goals that are most critical to the business community.

Eligibility
Participating organizations must operate in the greater Chicago metropolitan area and have created and instituted an Organization Development initiative which resulted in positive changes over the past 18 months and still in existence in 2003.  Public, private, not-for-profit, religious, educational groups, associations, and all other organizations of any size are eligible and encouraged to apply.

Business Units
Distinct business units within a larger company are also eligible as separate entities.

Consultant Companies:
Consulting organizations are not eligible to apply for an award for client projects although they may nominate an internal intervention in their own company.  Consulting organizations are however urged to encourage their clients to enter.

Application Information
Applications are available now and are due October 10, 2003. Please download the Word file, fill it out on-line, and submit both electronically and by mail as described in "Submission Information" in the Application. An entry fee of $100 per application (check payable to ODN/Chicago) is requested to help defray printing and administrative costs. Any questions regarding the fee should be addressed to the Impact Awards Administrator. Contact information can be found below.
