Member Spotlight: Sanjay Naik
Sanjay serves on the Board of OD Network and also serves on other not for profit Boards. His specific focus on the OD Network Board is to initiate the globalization of OD network, to enable our member’s global connectivity, to share and learn in an increasingly competitive environment.
Sanjay is a senior C level executive responsible for driving transformational change in global divisions & corporate functions of Emirates Airline & Group. Emirates is a US$ 27 Billion company with a 50+ brand portfolio and employs over 95,000 staff from 160+ nationalities. As Vice President - Performance Development, Sanjay's role is akin to a Chief Performance Officer where he has accountability for driving enterprise wide strategies and initiatives to improve organizational effectiveness and business performance.
Sanjay is an alumni of the London Business School where he attended the Global Business Consortium. He graduated with a Bachelor's in Industrial Engineering and holds an MBA in Finance. Sanjay has a global network of industry colleagues and professionals and has diverse international experience on the buy-side & sell-side of Fortune 200 corporations.
Sanjay's journey towards principles and practice of OD started in the early days of his career with the Colgate Palmolive Company. He realized early on that organizational effectiveness is possible only with a keen sense of understanding and managing people dynamics. Sanjay has practiced and lived the teachings of OD to ensure that all organizational systems and change programs keep people at the heart of change. OD approaches provide us the rigor to foresee and assess change in all its perspectives. He believes OD frameworks have worked well for him to engage key stakeholders i.e. Customers, Suppliers, Employees and C suite execs in all corporate change programs.
Sanjay's advice to professionals pursuing OD as a career is to develop an understanding of human dynamics and psychology. We need to understand what drives individuals to excel, what motivates people and how we consume information. The dynamics of change and its impact on human emotions and its response in the age of social media is critical for success of OD professionals,who are seen in the industry as Project / Program Managers driving significant change, rather than just ODexperts.
Sanjay's childhood dream has been to travel the world and learn different cultures and especially cuisines which fortunately for him, he has been able to achieve as an Airline employee. The current affordable access to travel and social media platforms has shrunk the world making it much easier for us to plan and see the world and be connected.
Sanjay follows emerging trends and its impact on Organization Design, Development and Effectiveness. His current focus is Customer Experience, User Experience & Usability, Frictionless Supply Chains, Social Media, BIG data and Digital transformation. He sees a great future for OD professionals as all industry disruption leading to the creation of new business models have been created by people both as consumers and dreamers. He believes all organizations who are either inventing or dealing with change have to adapt organizational systems and processes with OD professional’s best suited for the role.
