Member Spotlight:Rebecca Sanchez
Each month Network News features a dedicated member of OD Network in Member Spotlight. This month’s spotlight features Rebecca Sanchez, Owner/Principle Consultant, RS Global Consulting.
I am thrilled to be one of the newest members to the OD Network. This did not come without some research and soul searching. With many specialized organizations to choose from and only finite time and budget for professional development, I made a list of my needs. I attended one of the Welcome Group session before I even signed up and was able to make my decision within minutes of being on the call…the Welcome group was just that, welcoming, informative and immediately gave me a connection to leaders of the organization and members just like me, searching for a professional development home.
Last year I took a leap of faith and started my own independent Management Consulting practice, RS Global Consulting. In the beginning, I focused much of my energy and attention to what I know really well - the people side of project management. While I have a background that spans all aspects of process improvement and project management, my heart lives in building awareness and desire in those impacted by change. Change can be scary (just like starting your own business) and having a support network is key. I see the OD Network as my support team. There are brilliant and talented folks here who are willing to share their passion and knowledge - you just have to reach out and ask. As a new transplant from Minneapolis, MN to Denver, CO building my local network is important as well. I have already had the honor of connecting with a few OD Network members who I have either been connected to by a ODN board member or from the member list. Furthermore, as I transition my focus more to coaching and facilitating change management and agile transformation workshops (vs change strategy and implementation), I am excited to leverage the expertise of those who have already been through this type of transition. If you are one of those people or know one, please reach out, I'd love to hear your story.
Now for some personal fun facts:
- I love meeting new people. After attending a networking event I am often buzzing with energy and ideas. You never know what awesome things you can learn or what you might create with people. Will you be at the conference in October? If so, I look forward to meeting you!
- I am addicted to road biking and I just started. A bad spill and collarbone break after three weeks of riding couldn’t stop me from getting back on the saddle
- Starting my day without coffee would be absurd. You’ll either find a homemade latte or a Starbucks Peppermint Soy latte in my hand as I move from meeting to meeting (you’ll often catch me on Skype sipping my coffee)
- Aside from leading change I spend a great deal of time exploring the world. International travel keeps me grounded. I am very excited to be joining the Pepperdine OD India trip this December
OD is vast and encompasses so many specialized competencies. While I don't have the time or desire to be an expert in all of them, I know where to go to find the experts. Let's leverage each other, our network!
