I have come to believe that work, in a formal organization, is one’s greatest source of pride, inspiration and – sometimes – pain.
I have been interested in OD for a very long time as it is a source of balanced energy from the individual and the organization. While in OD, I have been able to experience a wide range of positive and negative things in organizations; but now I have the ability and expertise to help leaders of organizations to maintain healthy balances for organizational members.
I was drawn to OD Network when I was a volunteer for an upcoming webinar in 2013 and throughout the webinar Matt Minahan influenced me to join. My best experiences thus far have been at the 2013 and 2014 conferences. The conferences became a central point of professional connection and learning for me in ways that don’t seem to happen often in my day-to-day life.
OD has been a pivotal part of my personal life and career. I believe I have been able to succeed within the field due to the support of my colleagues and education within the field. My favorite moment in my career was when I delivered the dissertation presentation on my research on the Attributes of a Healthy Organization. At that moment, I realized how much I knew about the history and practice of OD, and how much I could help my clients and employees.
By interacting and practicing OD, I hope to evolve the field and encourage people to learn about OD and take their career down a new and exciting path.
