Wendy Fraser, Ph.D., OD Network Member, President and Chief Inspiration Officer for Fraser Consulting, LLC
My first OD Network conference I attended was in 1997 where I soaked in the enormity of the field and learned from current and sage practitioners. I love coming to ODN conferences to learn, engage with colleagues, and leave with renewed energy and ideas to serve my clients.
After working in government for 18 years and several years as an internal OD practitioner within state agencies, I took a leap of faith and launched full-time into my OD consultancy practice which I had started part-time in 2002. Most of my OD work is with connecting public sector administrators with the citizens they serve, but I have worked in every sector and several countries. I love the variety that OD work brings and I feel challenged to keep my skills fresh.
My greatest source of inspiration comes from working with young adults in leadership development. I love giving back to the next generation and I have worked with high school and college students in four countries, but they represented nearly fifty others. I thrive on the rich diversity and learning that came with these amazing people. I witnessed profound moments of growth and evolution into their stronger more authentic selves in programs like LeaderShape and Key Leader. And in 2011, I was honored with an international humanitarian award for my work with developing leadership in young adults.
What piques my passion in OD is working in the field of trust repair in groups which is my doctoral research. I also feel blessed to facilitate the comprehensive Triple Impact program created by Edie Seashore and Dr. Michael Broom. I co-facilitated with Edie several times and am currently partnering with Dr. Gwen Kennedy in her vision of building capacity with Alaskan non-profit leaders through Triple Impact. It’s such meaningful work that I pinch myself sometimes that I get to be a part of it!
Other than OD, my life is filled with two late teenaged kids, a husband, two black labs, and a desperate desire to get back to scrapbooking and photography. I’ve made over 100 scrapbooks and…I’m behind a few years!
