Seeking Nominees for OD Network Treasurer
ODN is seeking nominations for the Treasurer position. In addition to being an officer of the Board of Trustees, the Treasurer provides volunteer leadership in the financial life of ODN. In particular, the Treasurer leads the Board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibility.

Qualifications

Candidates must have the time, commitment, strategic leadership capabilities, and business acumen to contribute to the work of the Board and the OD Network. Candidates must be committed to carry out the mission and strategic goals.


Treasurer Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensure that the organization has systems in place to provide timely and accurate financial information
  • Present financial reports to the Board
  • Help the Board to maintain a focus on the Network’s financial position and consistently advocate for value creation and budget discipline
  • Educate new Board members about ODN’s financial condition, performance, and reporting systems
  • Oversee development of and adherence to financial policies
  • Oversee annual budgeting process
  • Review the annual audit and nine-ninety
  • Collaborate with staff leadership to present the budget to the Board for approval
  • Oversee monitoring of the budget through regular review of financial statements
  • Initiate discussions that connect ODN’s mission to finance
  • Carry out responsibilities of a Board member, including attending board meetings
  • Serve as Chair the Finance Committee
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Committee

Essential knowledge, skills, abilities, and other attributes (KSAOs)

  • Knowledge of financial accounting for nonprofit organizations
  • Skill at understanding and analyzing financial reports
  • Skill at communicating verbally and in writing
  • Ability to translate financial information and concepts to board members who have varying levels of financial training
  • Ability to attend to details and see the big picture
  • Leadership ability
  • Willingness to ask questions
  • Commitment to the mission and principles of ODN
  • Member in good standing of ODN or willingness to join

Board Member responsibilities include:

  • Attend in-person Annual Conference, Board Meeting (held in conjunction with the Conference), and up to one other Board meeting each year. ODN pays expenses only when those expenses are a barrier to participation
  • Active committee leadership and involvement
  • Carry out a variety of tasks and make contributions between Board meetings to support Board activities and the work of the Executive Director
  • Commit to the equivalent of three days, minimally, per month
  • To run for a Board position you must be a member of the Network

The Nomination Process is as follows:

  • Review the OD Network's mission, vision, and values, as well as strategic goals and recent news at www.odnetwork.org
  • Talk with any or all of the current Board members to learn more about the role and expectations
  • Inform Executive Director Laura Rudzinski (lrudzinski@odnetwork.org) of your intention to nominate yourself or someone else
  • Submit a statement of 150-200 words covering the nominee's qualifications and reasons for seeking election, as well as a recent electronic photograph
  • Send an electronic copy of the nomination statement, and photograph to Laura Rudzinski (lrudzinski@odnetwork.org)
