The Lady Behind the Chair:  Experiences of OD Women of Color as Chairs of Boards

OD Women of Color, if you are, have been, or are aspiring to be the chair of a board, this session is an opportunity to share your experiences, knowledge and insights through your gender, cultural and OD lenses. Whether you’ve lead community, not-for-profit, corporate, educational or government boards, collectively, we will examine the needs, issues and challenges of board chairs who are OD practitioners and women of color. We’ll collect, chart, look for patterns and learn from the data and wisdom in the room regarding key leadership competencies, communication styles, social norms and expectations (spoken and unspoken), and more. We will share successes and demonstrated strategies and results. How does being an OD practitioner, inform your leadership? How do you shine, because of your gender, culture and race? Women of color, get on board!

Learning Objectives

  2. Contribute to and apply leadership experiences, knowledge and strategies harvested from participants in the session.
