Coaching Leaders in Times of Complexity and Chaos

Times of crisis, chaos, and complexity require leaders to step up in significant ways. On the one hand, they need to think clearly and act decisively – leveraging their logical and analytical skills. On the other hand, they need to relate empathically and personally with their teams, to demonstrate empathy and inspire trust, and qualm the anxiety and fear that their teams might be experiencing in these times of uncertainty and ambiguity. David’s session provides practical ways to help leaders demonstrate the deep empathy and courageous, decisive leadership that organizations need in these times.

Learning Objectives

To understand why some teams become great by introducing the concept of team identity, the compelling and overwhelming research evidence and the practical application in organisations to create teams that:

  1. Describe the different types of leadership and decision-making required in complexity vs. crisis
  2. Understand the neurological see-saw between rational vs. emotional responses to crisis and why leaders need to address both effectively 3
  3. Define deep empathy and practical steps coaches can take to build this capability in leaders
