Frances Baldwin, EdD

Founder of Designed Wisdom

Frances Baldwin, EdD, a long-time OD Network member, has been on the faculties of NTL Institute and Gestalt Institute of Organization and Systems Development. She worked intimately and extensively inside of three complex systems: the petrochemical industry, the United States military, and city governance. Consulting internationally for more than 40 years, one of Frances’ important insights has been that the quality of attention to culture, environmental context and relationships uniformly impacts our models of change. In 1994 Frances retired from internal work and created Designed Wisdom, Inc., a small consultancy where she applies her broad experience to a range of organizations, groups and coaching/mentoring relationships. She is currently most curious about the potential applications of conversational leadership and the unique inner wisdom that women bring to leadership as we assume more prominence in organizations and world affairs. In an attempt to bridge our rich past of organization effectiveness and the needs of a complicated global future, Frances brings to the 2017 OD Network Conference an inquiry: “How are we evolving ourselves and our practice over successive generations to bring focus, clarity and value to the shaping of a more hopeful future?”

Melissa Barry, MA

Senior Consultant, Strategy & Organizational Effectiveness, Ketchum

Melissa Barry is an organizational psychologist at Ketchum, a global marketing communications agency within Omnicom. She provides counsel on organizational effectiveness, strategy implementation, change management, and group dynamics. Much of Melissa’s work involves inquiry-based assessment followed by bespoke individual, group or organizational intervention. Melissa is a skilled facilitator and program designer, and she is known for coming up with innovative and novel solutions. Melissa received her Master of Arts in social-organizational psychology from Columbia University and her Bachelor of Science in human development from Cornell University. She is also certified in several assessments including MBTI, FIRO-B and Social Styles. In her free time, Melissa enjoys traveling and photography. Jeanine Becker, JD

Manager of Learnings and Networks, Presidio Institute

Jeanine Becker has spent a decade as a lecturer in collaboration and negotiation at Stanford Law School (from 2007-2017). In her role at the Presidio Institute, Jeanine is focused on R&D as well as building a movement for cross-sector leadership. Jeanine has led teams to close thousands of transactions on four continents and has had deep engagement with multiple cross-sector impact projects. As Founder/CEO of Collaborative Leadership Consulting, Jeanine provides coaching and consulting to mission-driven leaders who are committed to scaling their impact through strong relationships. Passionate about using collaboration for impact, as a board member of WorldPulse Jeanine is collaborating with 5 women’s organizations, multiple corporations and McKinsey Global Institute to launch women’s economic empowerment pilots in Kenya and India. She received a Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from Tufts University, with a focus on social movements and peace & justice studies.

Nadia Bello

American University

Nadia Bello is an experienced consultant and facilitator, most often working with public and non-profit organizations and boards. She had a twenty-year career in non-profit, and is also a former elected official for the Toronto District School Board. Nadia is a Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) and a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and currently completing a Master of Science in Organization Development at American University in Washington DC (Cohort 74). In addition to her consulting practice, she is the Manager, Experiential Learning Strategy for the Faculty of Community Services at Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario.

Lori Blander, MS, ACC

Lori Blander has been a learning and development professional for 20 years. She works in collaborative partnership with executive teams, managers, HR, and functional teams to assess the current state, desired future state, and co-create solutions that work towards achieving vision.

Lori has consulted with corporations of all sizes in change management, leadership development, team dynamic/effectiveness, performance management, strategic planning, corporate redesign and cultural transformation. She has extensive experience driving results by working with all levels of complex organizations, from the C-suite to the front line.

Lori holds a B.S. from Towson State University, and a M.S. in Organization Development and Strategic Human Resources from Johns Hopkins University.

Julie Benesh, PhD

Department Chair, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology

Julie Benesh is an interdisciplinary practitioner-scholar who loves developing organizational leaders, talent, systems and teams to support culture change and associated financial turnaround, infrastructure transformation, customer satisfaction and employee engagement. As a learning designer, facilitator, presenter, intervener and team-builder, she helps leaders and contributors to imagine and collaborate more effectively to achieve enhanced strategic outcomes. She has served on the boards of several professional associations (currently OD Network/Chicago); presented at international conferences, including the Association for Psychological Type; and has studied with numerous thought leaders including Meg Wheatley, Edgar Schein, Marvin Weisbord, Christopher Worley and Harrison Owen. Julie is also an award-winning fiction writer who coaches writers and taught creative writing.

Michael Brenner, EdD

President, Right Chord Leadership

As president of Right Chord Leadership, Dr. Michael Brenner helps leaders and teams at all levels strengthen the essential skills needed to achieve peak performance. He achieves this by drawing on the lessons he’s learned as an international leadership consultant, executive coach, keynote speaker, author and educator for more than 17 years and as a professional musician for over 30 years. “At first glance, comparisons between music and organizational life may not be readily apparent,” says Michael. “But the parallels are definitely there. Playing music is all about harmony, collaboration, execution and communication. That’s exactly what leadership and teamwork is all about.” Michael has partnered with leading companies in a variety of industries, including Burlington Stores, QVC, SAP, the University of Pennsylvania Health System, Hahnemann University Hospital, Drexel College of Medicine, the City of Philadelphia, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Chester County Hospital, Boeing, The Goddard School, Godiva and the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. He has worked for several not-for-profit organizations as well, including Philadelphia FIGHT, United Communities Southeast Philadelphia and Liberty Resources. Michael has designed and taught courses in systems thinking, negotiation strategies, interpersonal relations and organizational behavior at Immaculata University, La Salle University and Temple University. He was 2014 president of the Philadelphia chapter of the Association for Talent Development (ATD) and chairman of the chapter’s 2015 Regional Learning and Development Conference. He is also a board member at the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. Michael has been a featured speaker at many industry events and conferences and has delivered programs on emotional intelligence and change management in Sri Lanka and Australia. “I expected foreign audiences to be vastly different from American audiences, but they’re not,” says Michael. “Everyone is looking for that elusive ingredient that will foster great performance on their teams. But that ingredient doesn’t exist. It’s a combination of factors that make the difference between a healthy culture and a dysfunctional one.” Michael holds a doctorate in adult learning and leadership from Columbia University and a master’s degree in adult and organizational development from Temple University. In addition to consulting and teaching, Michael currently performs in two Philadelphia-area bands. He lives in Broomall, PA.

Timothy R. Brock, PhD, CPT, CRP

Director of Consulting Services, ROI Institute

During his Air Force career, Dr. Brock was a Nuclear Weapons Specialist and a Missile Combat Crew Commander for two weapon systems where he was responsible for multiple operations-focused performance improvement initiatives. While at Lockheed Martin, he was the Manager for their Science of Learning and Performance Improvement team for global human and organizational performance improvement solutions. He has over 30 years of learning, performance improvement, and evaluation experience in the military, education, healthcare, and corporate environments for organizations around the globe. Dr Brock published a study entitled “Training NASA Astronauts for Deep Space Exploration Mission: A Research Study to Develop and Validate a Competency-Based Training Framework” (2007). His current research integrates competency-based performance with integrate big data analytics technology. Dr. Brock earned his Doctorate degree from Capella University in Education with a specialization in Training and Performance Improvement.

Juanita Brown, PhD

Founder of Whole Systems Associates

Juanita Brown, PhD, the co-originator of the World Café and founder of Whole Systems Associates, collaborates with senior leaders across sectors in crafting large-scale change strategies and creating innovative forums for strategic dialogue on critical business and societal issues. For over 40 years, Juanita has worked with a wide variety of clients in the United States, Latin America, Europe and the Pacific Rim. She has served as a senior affiliate with the MIT Center for Organizational Learning, as a research affiliate with the Institute for the Future and as a fellow at both the World Business Academy and The Fielding Institute for Social Innovation. Juanita is the co-author of the award-winning book The World Café: Shaping our Futures Through Conversations that Matter and a contributing author to Story Bridge: From Alienation to Community Action. Her lifelong passion has been creating architectures of engagement that use conversation as a core systemic process for enlivening catalytic change efforts at every level of scale. As an OD “elderella” Juanita is now exploring the question, “How can we partner across generations to use our unique contributions as we become ‘wiser together’ on behalf of life-affirming futures for our organizations, our communities and our planet?”

Stephanie Brown, MSOD

Founder of 10X Collective

Stephanie Brown, MSOD, has worked for 15 years in the performance improvement sector, introducing graphic facilitation and collaboration design to government executives and teams from the White House to the grassroots of change. Both visual artist and facilitator, Steph supports organizations by designing experiences that optimize the power of people in conversation together. This can range from live hand-drawn murals documenting collective memories, to facilitating and hosting conversations building organizational understanding, to leading design innovation sprints transforming ideas into action. Steph is passionate about collaboration and using visuals as a platform to move conversation forward. Founder of the DC Graphic Facilitation Meetup, she leads workshops that enable a multi-disciplinary community to bring visual practices into their own work. Steph is a member of NTL, a certified Integral Facilitator, and recently founded the 10X Collective, offering workshops to cultivate and cross-pollinate diverse perspectives. Steph is excited about engaging our diversities by exploring multiple perspectives in gameful and accessible ways to solve collective challenges together and create more resilient systems.

Tara Carcillo

Tara Carcillo is President and CEO of The Clearing, Inc., a Washington, D.C.-based management consulting firm. She is the co-creator of, a website that offers straightforward tutorials on how to engage, motivate, and lead others in meetings using powerful, proven techniques.

Tara has spent nearly 20 years guiding, designing, and advising on enterprise transformation, systems design and modeling, leadership development, and instructional design. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Washington College and holds a Master of Arts in Whole Systems Design and Organizational Systems Renewal from Antioch University.

Kevin (Kipp) Corbus, Psy.D.

Kevin (Kipp) Corbus, Psy.D. - Dr. Kevin (Kipp) Corbus is a senior organization development consultant with the VHA National Center for Organization Development, providing organizational consultation to VA nationwide. He recently returned to NCOD after utilizing his psychology background and organizational development passion and expertise over the past several years in positions at that VHA Support Service Center (VSSC) and the VA Inpatient Evaluation Center (IPEC). In each of his roles during his VA career, Dr. Corbus has had the pleasure of working closely with the leaders and caregivers of our nation's Veterans with a goal of enhancing the service and care provided at the VHA hospitals across the country. He earned his BA in Psychology form Kenyon College, and his MA and Psy.D. from Xavier University. Gilmore Crosby, MSW

Gil Crosby has been an organization and leadership development professional since 1984. His father and mentor, Robert P. Crosby, was awarded the OD Network Lifetime Achievement award in 2016. The Crosby method integrates the best of old (the application of Lewinian theory and T-group methodology) and the new (“Mindfulness” and “Emotional Intelligence,” for example). Gil is a master of whole-systems business culture change. His skill as a catalyst for deep transformation keeps him in demand as an author, speaker, coach and consultant.

Christopher Cotten is a recent graduate of the American University MSOD program. His MSOD education builds on nearly a decade of experience in international relief and development with the American Red Cross. Through this experience, he has developed a focus on capacity and organization development support to local and national partner organizations in other countries. He currently resides in Washington, D.C.

Barry Cross

Known for asking provocative questions that help people get unstuck, Karen coaches executives and designs team and organizational experiences that build collaboration muscles while getting important work done. Karen loves going fast on skis, sipping a good glass of red wine, and cracking open the conversation at a cocktail party. Past lives: theatre teacher, lieutenant in reserve military, chief flying instructor with the Canadian Cadet Gliding Program and a short stint as a jail matron. Jonathan Estes

Katherine Farquhar, PhD, ACC

After 25 wonderful years with American University’s MSOD program (including nine years as Director), Katherine pivoted to coaching, OD, community engagement (recently finished as mayor of Brookeville MD), and inn-keeping. This mélange sharpens creativity, entrepreneurial capability and grace, showing how the “space in between” serves people and systems. Her coaching focuses on transition points in clients’ lives, particularly during career shifts, at mid-career, and around retirement. Her OD clients range from non-profits to mid-sized corporations. Her work helps clients emerge from binding assumptions. They access creative thinking, channeling energies and focus toward pending change. Her approach accompanies the client to reframe and refresh as they newly vision, then carry forward in their journey. Andy Fleming

Over his career, Andy has helped organizations and individuals achieve significantly greater levels of performance while operating from a deeper sense of purpose and commitment. Joseph P. Foran, MA, MP, PCC

Melanie Funchess

Melanie has dedicated her life to engaging and elevating the voices of marginalized communities. She has been a tireless advocate, activist and supporter of causes dedicated to the elimination of poverty and inequity in her community and in communities across the country. She has designed and implemented initiatives focused on increasing access to mental health services. She has worked with many different professional groups to increase cultural awareness and competence. She has presented nationally on all of the above topics and has a TEDx talk on implicit bias.

Timothy J. Gillum, PhD

Tim Gillum, PhD has worked both in academic and business environments for more than 15 years, focusing on learning and change management within regulated environments. Tim has designed and implemented end-to-end training systems for start-up facilities in both the United States and Europe and rebuilt training systems for organizations under Consent Decree with the FDA. His area of expertise centers on aligning learning organizations to the company’s overall strategy and leveraging LEAN performance tools to optimize the human capital within the organization. Tim has a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from St. Louis University, an MBA from Webster University and a Doctor of Philosophy in educational leadership from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. In his current role at Baxter, Tim is the global process owner for quality training and is accountable for the organization’s learning management system.

Carolyn Godfrey, MA, PCC

Carolyn Godfrey has been the president of Evolve Consulting & Coaching for over ten years. She has helped companies like Sandia National Laboratory, the USDA, Pandora Internet Radio, TransUnion and CH2MHILL. As a leadership coach, trainer and OD consultant, she has helped hundreds of leaders create breakthroughs in their personal leadership for over 20 years. Her work with individuals and teams in organizations has resulted in financial growth and positive employee interactions. Prior to founding Evolve, Carolyn held leadership positions in the software development and environmental engineering industries. Usha specializes in building organizations’ and communities’ capacity to innovate, adapt and thrive in the face of unprecedented complexity, change and uncertainty. She holds an immense passion for designing new ways of working that support teams in becoming more collaborative, self-managed and innovative. She believes in the power of creating workplaces where employees feel energized by meaningful work and supported in continually growing and developing. As an organization transformation consultant at August Public, Usha works with enterprise organizations to build their muscle for adaptivity, customer-centricity and dynamic learning. Prior to joining August, Usha worked at Google focusing on team development and organizational learning. Howard M. Guttman is founder and principal of Guttman Development Strategies. Howard is active with New Jersey OD Network, and was named on of Leadership Excellence magazine's “Excellence 100 Top Thought Leaders.”

Ulf Hahnemann

Ulf Hahnemann joined Maersk Line as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) in August 2016. He was with Mars, Inc. for 27 years, most recently as its Vice President for Strategic Programs. He is experienced in leading change and transformation, organizational development, talent management, and engagement initiatives to strengthen the HR function and focus company growth and business strategy. He joined Mars, Inc. as a management trainee in Norway in 1989 and has since held various roles in Denmark, Australia and North America. Prior to this, he was an export consultant at the Royal Danish Foreign Ministry.

Ulf graduated from the Copenhagen School of Business Administration, and attended London Business School’s Global Business Consortium and Henley Business School’s HR program.

Marc Hanlan, PhD

Marc has been supporting group transformations for more than 35 years in a wide range of public and private organizations, from the 82,000-user United States Navy ERP to the operational transformation of thousands of field service workers at Exelon to the creation of self-managed factories at General Electric. He has worked with more than 150 high-performance teams achieving ’breakthrough’ results in profitability, quality of service and sustainability while increasing quality of work life. Marc’s work has been recognized by the United States Navy, a PBS special and GE Global Best Practices. He has taught Organizational Development for 15 years at the graduate level at Penn State and PCOM. Marc is the author of a textbook on breakthrough change and is the holder of patents covering material processing and controls. He holds a PhD in organizational development and change from Fielding Graduate University. Marc has deliberately flown planes upside-down, measured Earth-Moon orbits for the United States Air Force, designed part of the International Space Station, and started numerous companies along the way. He is a proud father of three and grandfather of four.

Dan is a very experienced strategy execution and OD consultant leading complex organization transformations inside large corporations like Allstate and as an external consultant for firms like Diamond (now PwC) with top tier clients like United Airlines, American Express, Discover, CME Group and more. Irv Rubin, PhD

Eric Sanders, PhD

Eric Sanders is a scholar-practitioner (someone who bridges between those in academia and those in the “real world”), teacher and organization development consultant (OD economist). He currently teaches and chairs undergraduate business studies at Cardinal Stritch University, and has taught leadership, organization development, management and economics at several universities. Christina Scott is a change agent with over 12 years of experience grounded in education and public service. Paul Thoresen has over fifteen years of experience as an Industrial-Organizational Psychology practitioner. Vaughn, PhD, is a professor of pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center within the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine with a joint appointment in educational studies at the University of Cincinnati College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services. She is formally trained as a social psychologist, counselor and medical educator.
