2021 Board of Trustee Applications

Applications accepted until 11:59pm on October 5, 2020

The Organization Development Network is seeking applications for new members for our Board of Trustees. The openings will be filled by membership election; all trustees will serve a three-year term. Terms will begin on January 1, 2021.

We are eager to have a strong slate of candidates who represent the diversity of the field of OD and the membership of the OD Network.

Two board positions are open for 2021:

Vice Chair

The OD Network Vice Chair assists in carrying out the functions of that office and performs specific duties as delegated to him/her, particularly responsible for the Member Experience. The vice chairman works in conjunction with other members of the executive committee and staff to support, monitor, and evaluate the performance of the organization. This position is generally regarded as an orientation for future succession as the association’s board chair. The OD Network Vice Chair assumes the role and duties of the board chair if the board chair is no longer able to continue.

Vice Chair Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the Member Experience across all interdependencies of the various initiatives of the board and the association.
  • Regularly attends board meetings and important related matters per association by- laws.
  • Serves as a member of the executive committee.
  • Makes serious commitment to participate actively in committee work and typically agrees to development in preparation of becoming the Board Chair in subsequent year.
  • Volunteers and willingly accepts assignments and completes them thoroughly and on time.
  • Stays informed about committee matters, prepares themselves well for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports.
  • Gets to know others and builds collegial working relationships that contribute to the wellbeing of the board and organization.

Board Champion: Corporate Relations

This is a critical Board Member role that will collaborate with the Ewald Management Team responsible for Membership, Sales, and Recruitment in the recruitment of new corporate members and the retention of existing corporate members.  This roles is key in growing corporate relations from both a business development and sales perspective, driving membership and revenue.  This role is a position of considerable responsibility within the organization and one that requires a self-motivated and goal-orientated person. An understanding of the many dimensions of the OD community and the ability to communicate articulately the mission of the OD Network and the advantages of membership is a must.

Board Member Responsibilities:

  • Regularly attends board meetings and important related matters per association by-laws.
  • Makes serious commitment to develop, lead, and participate actively in a Corporate Relations committee.
  • Volunteers and willingly accepts assignments and completes them thoroughly and on time.
  • Stays informed about committee matters, prepares themselves well for meetings, and reviews and comments on minutes and reports.
  • Gets to know others and builds collegial working relationships that contribute to the wellbeing of the board and organization.
  • Provides Board input to the association management staff team, ensuring the use of appropriate and proven sales strategies and a defined plan of action for prospecting, follow-up and closing.
  • Serves as Board champion and liaison for corporate member services and the value proposition to attract and sustain these members.
  • Serves as Committee leader for initiative and establishes Corporate Relations Volunteer Committee.
  • Constantly works towards recruiting corporate members.
  • Provides Board oversight in the development and updates of corporate relations marketing materials in partnership with the Marketing and Communications staff
  • Oversees the onboarding of new corporate members and their associates.
  • Serves as a Board customer service contact for membership to solve issues and problems within the organization and in the larger business community as they arise.

Qualifications

Candidates should have the time, commitment, strategic leadership capabilities, and business acumen to contribute to the work of the Board and the OD Network. They must be committed to carry out our mission and strategic goals. PLEASE NOTE: Applicants for the Board of Trustees must be current OD Network members in good standing.

Specifically, we are looking for people who:

  • Have prior management or board experience
  • Have fundraising experience and/or are committed to fiscal accountability and financial management, including budget oversight
  • Balance a strategic mindset with an action orientation
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork and collaborative abilities
  • Wish to contribute time (on average, 5 hours/week) and talent to the organization in a significant way
  • Have knowledge and competency in the field of OD
